ABOUT
"Highway Mass" was commissioned by and composed for Ensemble Robot in spring 2008. At first glance, it appears to be a liturgical mass, complete with a Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei. Yet the piece is also telling a story: a multifaceted tale of memory, betrayal, loss, and a tragic highway accident, conveyed by a multiplicity of characters emering from the voice of one singer: an abused boy soprano, the ghost of an accident victim, and an innocent bystander who witnesses the accident while driving on the highway.
