ABOUT
"The Endings" is my second chamber opera, composed for and premiered by ICE in 2006. It was inspired by Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy, in which two young people from different worlds meet and fall in love, and then must tragically separate in order to save their universe. I decided to imagine a future and final encounter between the two protagonists, one of whom had aged naturally, and the other of whom--existing in a parallel but temporally different world--had remained eternally young.
